Meta-Aramid Staple Fiber

The full name of meta-aramid staple fiber is "poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide)" (PMIA) fiber, which is an organic polymer fiber synthesized from isophthaloyl chloride and m-phenylenediamine.

FST is a professional manufacturer specializing in the production of Meta-Aramid Staple Fiber. There are four production lines in our factory and can produce meta-aramid fiber  6,000 tons per year. FST aramid fiber is of the dye - able grade.

Characteristics and Advantages

Excellent Thermal Performance

● High Temperature Resistance: It can be continuously used at a temperature of 205°C. Even in a high-temperature environment above 205°C, it can still maintain relatively high strength. It only starts to carbonize at 370°C, and gradually becomes brittle, carbonizes, and finally decomposes at temperatures above 400°C. Moreover, it will not melt or drip at high temperatures.

● Strong Flame Retardancy: The limiting oxygen index (LOI) is between 29% and 32%. It belongs to a permanently flame-retardant fiber. It will not continue to burn after leaving the flame, which can effectively prevent the spread of the flame and reduce the fire risk.

Good Mechanical Performance

● High Strength: The breaking strength is generally between 3 - 6cN/dtex, which is much higher than that of ordinary fibers. It can provide good strength support for products, making them more durable.

● High Elongation: The elongation rate can reach 25% - 45%. When subjected to external tensile force, it can deform to a certain extent without breaking, endowing the finished products with good flexibility and impact resistance.

● Soft and Spinnable: It has a soft hand feel and good spinnability. It can be conveniently produced into short fibers with different finenesses and lengths, and can be made into different yarn counts on general textile machinery, and then woven into fabrics, non-woven fabrics, etc.

Outstanding Chemical Performance

● Acid and Alkali Resistance: It has excellent resistance to most chemical substances. It can withstand most high-concentration inorganic acids and has good alkali resistance at room temperature. It can maintain its own performance without being damaged in different chemical environments.

● Good Corrosion Resistance: It has a good resistance to most chemical substances, can remain stable in a variety of chemical media, and is not prone to chemical reactions that lead to a decline in performance.

Prominent Electrical Insulation Performance 

● It has good electrical insulation properties and can be used for the insulation of electrical equipment, ensuring the electrical safety of the equipment during operation and improving the reliability and service life of the equipment.

Good Dimensional Stability: 

● Under different environmental conditions, the dimensional change of meta-aramid is relatively small, and it can maintain a stable shape and performance. This is very important for some application scenarios with high requirements for dimensional accuracy.

Excellent Radiation Resistance 

● Its radiation resistance is extremely excellent. For example, its strength remains unchanged after being irradiated by γ-rays of 1.72×10⁸rads for a long time, and it can be applied to special environments with radiation.

Protection Field

● Industrial Protection: It is used to make protective clothing for industrial fields such as petroleum and petrochemical, power and gas, steel and coking, and electrical welding, protecting workers from the harm of high temperature, flames, chemical substances, etc.

● Military, Police and Fire Protection: It can be used to make fire-fighting suits, military and police training uniforms, etc., providing reliable protection for firefighters, military and police personnel during task execution, and resisting flames, high temperatures and potential chemical attacks.

Filtration Field: It can be made into high-temperature filtration materials, which are used for the filtration of high-temperature flue gas in industries such as chemical engineering, steel, and cement.
